The Minister of Labor, Employment, Veterans Affairs and Social Affairs, Darija Kisić Tepavčević, says that a detailed and dynamic vaccination plan has been drawn up in gerontology centers for the next few days.
After visiting the social protection institutions in Aleksinac, he told reporters that the vaccinations were underway in Nis at the gerontology center and that they would take place today in Kragujevac.
He said the plan is for the vaccination to be carried out tomorrow at the gerontological centers in Kanjiža, Vršac and some other places.
“A detailed schedule has been made,” the minister said, adding that the vaccination will take place at the Aleksinac gerontology center early next week.
He mentioned that the users of gerontology centers, as well as the employees of those institutions, are recognized as the most vulnerable group that needs to be protected.
He recalled that vaccination began yesterday, that we are now actively participating in building immunity, but that we still have to be patient, because thousands of people are still infected and there are a large number of deaths.
Kisic Tepavcevic, who received the vaccine yesterday, says he feels great.
He stated that, as after each vaccine, like the flu vaccine, a slight pain is felt at the application site, which lasts for several hours.
“After that, I did not have any symptoms,” says the minister, adding that swelling, redness and the appearance of a milder temperature and muscle pain are possible at the application site.
He stated that all this can be expected as a mild reaction of the organisms to the production of antibodies and when coming into contact with the antigens of the virus itself.
“You can see that I am fine and I hope that the users of this center will be vaccinated in the next period,” says Kisić Tepavčević.
He mentioned that vaccination is free, but also voluntary, and that all those users of gerontology centers who wish, can receive it.
Vaccination, he says, means that at the time of application there is no acute illness, temperature and that the person is not allergic to any of the components of the vaccine.
“The response is very good, a large number of people are interested in all gerontology centers, both state and private,” said the minister.
He says our older fellow citizens show how we should behave and how we should be responsible, and that they recognized how important it is that we all actively participate in the fight against the virus.
Asked about the latest decisions of the crisis staff, Kisic Tepavcevic said that this will be discussed at today’s press conference.
