Serbian Minister of Labor, Employment, Veterans and Social Affairs and crisis staff member Darija Kisić Tepavčević stated today that it is estimated that, relative to the number of officially confirmed infection cases, there are at least five to ten times more people whose infection is not recognized.
She told RTS that she does not believe that criminal policy is something that helps defeat the virus, but only responsibility and collective conscience.
“It’s quite a long chain when it comes to possible carriers of the infection. That is the story around the world, not just here. So the whole concept of prevention is that we all act as potential carriers of the infection, even the people who have been infected with this disease, because we have seen that there is a possibility of reinfection, ”explains Kisić Tepavčević.
He also said that 292 people have been hospitalized to date and 102 patients have been discharged.
Relative to the number of people infected every day, about 15 percent have moderate or severe pneumonia that requires hospitalization.
Dr. Kisić Tepavčević says that Serbia still has capacity, that is, there are still hospitals that could be transferred to the covid system if necessary.
He points out that now everything is subordinate to people who have a more severe form of clinical manifestation of kovid 19, but that non-communicable diseases are still the main cause of death in Serbia, so part of the capacity of the health system must remain in the hands of these patients.
He also said that he does not believe that criminal policy is something that helps defeat the virus.
“It must be a collective conscience. Nobody can convince me that a fine is above the desire to be healthy,” says the minister.
He believes that collective conscience and responsibility must be above all else.
He also stated that the virus is currently confirmed in 63 social protection institutions, that is, in one fifth of all such institutions.
“It’s mostly a sporadic number of patients. These are the most sensitive places where the virus spreads like wildfire. We had a negative experience in Nis and we are especially vigilant there, with a special degree of oversight. When we see absolute numbers, They seem to be big, but they are sporadic cases, in which the reaction was rapid and the virus was not allowed to spread, “explains Kisić Tepavčević.
