Dr. Conn on whether ELECTIONS are the key reason or something else

And while we wait for a new coronavirus attack, or the third wave, although there are those who say that we are already in it, there is still talk about what led to the start of the second, that is, the outbreak of the epidemic in Serbia in the middle of summer.

This morning, the epidemiologist and member of the Crisis Staff for the fight against coronavirus, Dr. Predrag Kon, spoke about this for TV Happy.

– When you look at what is happening in Europe, you can see that all those who relaxed the measures had a new wave, only with them there was an increase a little later than with us, because then they began to relax – said Dr. Kon.

Why was there such a tie in June and July, asked the presenter?

The main thing, Dr. Kon said, is the virus’s ability to have a high transmission potential during the summer.

“Besides, we didn’t know about those super broadcast places, about all those celebrations, dance nights …” Dr. Kon said.

Was it because of the choice, the presenter then asked?

– The elections themselves were held with all the measures that could be implemented. The basics are pre-election and post-election behavior. I mean the meeting and the behavior that allowed the virus to spread. And the electoral event itself was so organized … – said Dr. Kon and continued:

– We do not see the elections as a place where the transmission was accelerated, it coincides with that unfortunate game, so that is where it begins, so we had pre-election activity … But even now it is a question of who participated how much, then you have the elections … But in parallel to that, you have all those celebrations, of which there are usually more in June, and then the explosion came in July – said Dr. Kon.

It should be recalled that the state of emergency was lifted on May 6 and parliamentary and local elections in Serbia were held on June 21.

There were two major sporting events that month that were attended by large numbers of people. First, it was the Serbian Cup semi-final match between Partizan and Red Star, played on June 11 in front of a large crowd of spectators, and those Humska scenes soon went around the world. The world media were enthusiastic about the eternal derby, with everyone making the headline that it was played in front of 25,000 spectators.

A few days after that, more precisely on June 24, a soccer match was played between Partizan and Vojvodina in Nis.

By the way, Serbian epidemiologists announce the third attack of the corona virus for the end of October and the beginning of November, and Professor Petar Kočović, who became known for his predictions of the epidemic based on a mathematical model, believes that the third wave in Serbia is on the move.
