Don’t be fooled by the fine weather, we’re not done with the crown

The dean of the Belgrade Faculty of Medicine, Nebojsa Lalic, says that due to the good weather, the prevailing impression is that kovid 19 has been exceeded and that it is finished, but it is not.

He also told RTS that not too many different speculations are being discussed in medical circles, adding that this is probably because “doctors are busy with the day-to-day situation and trying to balance themselves with a relatively low infection rate.”

He points out that there are many people thanks to whom Serbia is in a stable state and that “we are not left alone”.

Regarding the information that 55% of the citizens of Novi Pazar acquired antibodies against the virus, Lalic explains that corona is not the only virus that creates herd immunity and that measuring antibody levels must be interpreted in a complex way.

Antibodies include those that are against disease-causing proteins and those that do not cause disease. “It’s a measure of the overall level,” says Lalic.

He advises the citizens of Novi Pazar to wear masks and adhere to all measures against the epidemic, until a stable, effective and safe vaccine is made.

As for teaching at the Faculty of Medicine, he says that there is no real recipe, but that most faculties in the world have solved it with a combined approach.

He states that the Faculty of Medicine has also moved classes, seminars and part of the practical work to the online version, and that there will be direct contact with patients during practical exercises in clinical subjects.

“We believe that we have created all the conditions. That should start on Monday,” Lalic said.
