DOCTOR KON ON CATERING FACILITIES: Doctors have proposed to shorten the working hours of the cafes, this is when they would close

Kon pointed out to TV Pink that the introduction of the curfew was not discussed in the Crisis Staff sessions, nor on the extension of the fall break.

He points out that the medical part of the staff agrees that the measures that already exist are good and that they should be respected more.

Remember that these measures are the mandatory use of masks indoors, the recommendation that masks be used outdoors, especially in pedestrian areas, the regulations on physical distance and disinfection in catering facilities and service workshops.

Kon points out that the number of infected people today shows that the numbers are growing, adding that the situation in Belgrade is the most critical because today, out of the total number of infected people, 1,700 are from the capital.

This is an indicator, he adds, that the measures are not yet respected, and that two weeks of more rigorous measures, which mainly concern discos, are needed to “flatten the curve.”

He points out that the crisis headquarters is also aware of the economic consequences of certain measures, but, he adds, the number of infected must be stopped so that the hospital system can withstand the pressure.

“We don’t have time, the numbers are going up really fast, hospital beds are filling up fast, we can improvise and find additional space, but the numbers will keep going up,” Kon pointed out.

He noted that Crisis Staff did not speak to anyone about the introduction of the curfew, although, he says, such a measure would yield the best results, which was shown, he says, in France, Belgium and the Netherlands.

However, he adds, this measure would have great economic and political consequences.

Kon says there was no discussion of the fall break extension because, he says, the school environment turned out to be responsible.

– The extension of the holidays was discussed on November 6, I proposed it, but the rest of the Crisis Staff did not accept it because they thought that the situation in the schools was stable. However, an increasing number of infections have also been noticed in children, so I think that will be one of the topics in the next sessions, says Kon.

Regarding the arrival of our citizens during the holidays, Kon said that they will not be banned from entering the country, but that, as before, they will be registered and will be in the surveillance system that was introduced this summer.

– Nothing drastically new can be done here, the only thing that can be introduced is the mandatory PCR test for our citizens, but they cannot be banned from entering the country, while foreigners can – said Kon.
