Do you know what it means to be SUNNY today? Confirmed by meteorologists!

The Serbian Orthodox Church today celebrates Saint Demetrius, popularly known as Mitrovdan.

There is a belief that on the eve of Mitrovdan all great work must be completed, especially great work in the field and other things that are done outside, but also that this is not a holiday when guests are received.

If the day is sunny, the winter is supposed to be mild, with some extremely cold days. If it snows in Mitrovdan, it is believed to last until April.

Given that today is a beautiful and sunny day, it is clear that, if this prediction is to be believed, we will have the winter that many would like. This is also confirmed by meteorologists.

Mild winter ahead

Judging by their announcements, a warm and somewhat drier fall awaits us, while, unlike last year, a harsher winter could surprise us.

Director of the Hydrometeorological Institute of the Republic prof. Dr. Jugoslav Nikolic recently revealed that statistics currently indicate that this winter could be somewhat colder than the previous two or three, but again mild compared to the winters we remember.

– Statistics currently indicate that this winter could be a little colder than the previous two or three, with a slightly higher amount of snow, but we will know that only in the second half of November, when all the experts will analyze the situation and harmonize their expectations – said Nikolic, adding that harmonization will be around November 20, when a long-term forecast for winter will be issued.

His colleague RHMZ meteorologist Nedeljko Todorović also explained that with a 60 percent chance, you can tell what summer will be like by looking at summer.

– A period of cold weather was in January 2017, and that repeats every three to four years. Last winter was warm with very little snow. Based on that repeatability rate, this winter is likely to be a bit colder and snowier. That’s a rough estimate, Todorović concluded in an interview for RTS.

According to RHMZ seasonal forecast, warm weather will continue into November. December and January are expected to be milder and somewhat drier.

RHMZ announces moderate frosts in the third decade of January. When it comes to February and March, the average temperatures will be slightly above average, there will be more rainfall in March.
