Even in Novi Pazar, which was the largest hotbed of covids in the previous wave, citizens do not respect the measures enough. They behave similarly to June, resulting in hundreds of infections and many lives lost. The only thing is that now there are no mass concentrations or celebrations.

Most, it seemed, slightly believed in the story that spread through the city that, in the previous wave, half of the Pazarac had acquired immunity. The favorable statistics also encourage relaxation and non-compliance with measures: there are no new infected people in Novi Pazar for days and only three patients are being treated at the Kovid hospital.
– We must comply with all prescribed measures, so as not to allow the virus to flare up again – says Dr. Šefadil Spahić, director of the Institute of Public Health in Novi Pazar. – There is no talk of collective immunity of the citizens of Novi Pazar. It is an illusion that can cost us dearly. Novi Pazar residents like to defy various measures and prohibitions. That has already happened to us and now we need unity, strong character and determination to jointly and by all means oppose the dangerous virus.

Pazarci are not the only ones who violate the measures and the authorities have announced stricter controls and sanctions. The first sentences have already been written in Belgrade, and the “Novosti” journalists determined that the majority of citizens took the measures seriously and that on public transport, where there is potentially the highest risk of infection, almost everyone wear masks. Only a few young passengers are unprotected. The fact that of the 151 newly infected, up to 78 are from Belgrade, shows that the inhabitants of the capital will have to respect the measures even more.

The MINISTRY of Health has introduced a special number 064/8811405, to which citizens can report non-compliance with epidemiological measures through “Viber”, especially in catering services and other places where a large number of citizens meet. The Ministry announced that the situation is stable, but that it can change quickly, considering the surrounding situation, as well as the relaxation in respect of the measures.
Today’s balance is also two more deaths in Serbia. The other two important parameters for the evaluation of the epidemiological situation are beginning to go in the wrong direction: the number of hospitalized has increased to 291 and the number of patients on ventilators to 21. – The current situation is such that it warns us more seriously that it is important to consistently implement all the measures taken – said immunologist Dr. Srdja Jankovic. – Otherwise, there is a threat of an increase in the number of patients.
In addition to Belgrade, there was also an increase in the number of infected people in Novi Sad, with seven new positives, Nis, Kragujevac and Krusevac with five each, Valjevo, Vranje, Paracin and Raska with three each.
– We must be careful, each larger gathering also has a potentially higher risk of transmitting the virus – says Dr. Janković. – Crisis staff are not considering the reintroduction of previous measures such as curfew. Personally, I am not sure if it is useful at this stage of the epidemic.
