Distribution of the first 50,000 doses of Torlak vaccines has begun

For the first time in 15 years, citizens of Serbia will be able to get vaccinated against the seasonal flu vaccine from the Institute “Torlak”, the distribution of which began today.

Today, a contingent of the first 50,000 doses left the “Torlak” Institute of Virology, Vaccines and Serums in Belgrade for health centers in Serbia, and the institute is expected to produce 250,000 doses to be distributed successively.

The Torlak vaccine will arrive in health centers today and tomorrow, and the distribution of the first doses of “Torlak” this morning was attended by the Minister of Health, Zlatibor Lončar.

Loncar said Serbia experienced that Torlak, which many tried to destroy, produced a vaccine after 15 years, at a specific time for the whole world.

“Citizens can relax,” Loncar said, adding that Torlak not only produces this vaccine, but also BCG, an antiserum for snake venom, probiotics, tetanus, and that the state will continue to invest in that institute.

Loncar said that this is a great day for citizens because the “Torlak” Institute is producing a flu vaccine after more than 15 years.

He thanked all the employees of the institute for their patience and hard work and for putting up with all the difficult times and pressures, because many wanted Torlak to be incarcerated.

“Many wanted it, but luckily it didn’t happen and Torlak made a new vaccine,” Loncar said, thanking Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic, the government and the World Health Organization for the help and support, which is reflected in the money, He added that it was not small and measured in millions of euros and dollars.

He added that it was worth it and that thanks to that, today we have the production of the flu vaccine in Serbia.

He said the Ministry of Health will continue to help “Torlak” to achieve even better results, to conquer and apply new technologies and manufacture new vaccines and everything our citizens need.

Speaking of the epidemiological situation, he said that it is important to respect all preventive measures and that they have been shown to give results.

The director of the “Torlak” Institute, Vera Stoiljković, told Tanjug that it is important that this institution produce a flu vaccine.

“This is a great day for Serbia, a great day for the ‘Torlak’ Institute because we made a new vaccine,” said the director, adding that the distribution started this morning and the vaccines will be distributed to health centers during the day. according to the plan of the Serbian Institute of Public Health. .

Stoiljkovic said Torlak will continue to produce and distribute the flu vaccine, according to plan, as long as it is needed.

He stated that a lot of effort and work was invested and thanked all the employees who participated in it for their dedication and patience.
