Shopping centers are not a problem, but non-compliance with prescribed measures, crisis staff member Darija Kisić Tepavčević and VMC Karaburma head Ivo Udovičić said today.
When asked by journalists if it is normal, when we have a situation with 1,500 newly infected people, to open shopping malls, Kisić Tepavčević said that we must live and perform life activities as normally as possible, but with respect for all measures.
He pointed out that we should be proud that such a large and beautiful shopping center has been opened in such difficult times when the economy is in complete collapse and our country is in a position to achieve something like that.
– In all places where there are a lot of people, such as shopping malls, it is not recommended to go frequently. This is not recommended now. The output should be reduced to what is necessary to carry out life activities as normally as possible. There are clear procedures on how we should behave when we go to those places and spaces, the doctor stressed.
Concluding that with 300 new infections a day, everything was closed, Kisić Tepavčević replied that the whole world was not prepared when the virus appeared.
– In the first moment, the most important thing was to prevent the scenario as we had in Italy or Spain. Based on the experiences of others, we saw what happens when the healthcare system collapses and the priority was to prevent him from becoming one of the oldest citizens and not to get into a situation where we cannot provide help to all who help him. they need, explained Kisić Tepavčević.
He pointed out that we are much more prepared now than then.
– We hope that we will not be in a position to use the full capacity of the health system. Regarding the capacity of the laboratory, we did everything. But when it comes to medical personnel, we cannot increase that number because it takes years and experience. That is why the priority now is to save medical workers who are fighting in hospitals for our lives and people in the field who work day and night to prevent further spread of the virus, Kisić Tepavčević said.
Udovicic said that would likely be expected of him, considering that someone who hasn’t been out of intensive care for eight months is a supporter of the lockdown, but not for something like that.
– Go freely to the mall, but wear a mask and alcohol and keep your distance. You don’t have to push yourself where there are a lot of people. The economy must work. We have to charge. The problem is people who do not follow the prescribed measures. The state can do a lot there, Udovicic is convinced.
He pointed out that no one in the world had a large number of highly specialized personnel, because no one was preparing for a pandemic, which we do not remember a hundred years ago.
“No one is ready, and not because the state did not invest or we did not want to, but there is no such staff in the world, not even in our country, and we have many patients who require such staff,” said Udovicic.
