How much corona virus vaccine we buy from the company “Pfizer” and at what price will remain hidden from the public for now, because the contract between our country and that company is marked as strictly confidential, according to the response presented by the Ministry of Health to Raskrikavanje. Former commissioner for information of public importance, Rodoljub Sabic, told Raskrikavanje that he did not understand why the contract was secret and that it was in the public interest to obtain information about the vaccine, as well as how much budget money was spent on its acquisition.

The media sent questions, among others, to the addresses of the Ministry of Health, the Agency for Medicines and Medical Devices and the Health Insurance Fund of the Republic.
The disclosure requested a copy of the contract signed with “Pfizer” and “Biontek”, as well as information on the price, quantity and date when the vaccines will be delivered, and on all the rights and obligations of Serbia, arising from the contract. .
The day after the first contingent of 4,800 “Pfizer” vaccines arrived in Serbia, the response came from the Ministry of Health, which, referring to the Data Secrecy Act, refused to provide Raskrikavanje with the requested information.

Sabic recalls that marking this information as “strictly confidential” is contrary to the Law of the Budgetary System, which contains the principle of transparency. The exceptions can be national security, national defense or international relations.
“I do not see what damage to any of these three interests could be caused by the mere fact that, which is the most normal thing in any regulated country, the government will take into account the relevant facts, especially in such situations.”, explains Sabic.
Recently, the company “Pfizer” refused to present to the newspaper Danas details of that contract, indicating that its details are confidential.
