Opposition politicians have repeatedly emphasized that they have been very surprised by the election of Gordana Comic as head of the Ministry of Human Rights and Social Dialogue since the election of ministers. Did you surprise yourself by accepting that position?
How were the first talks with the Prime Minister of Serbia, Ana Brnabić, and the President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vučić? Gordana Čomić talks about what she learned about dialogue in Serbia while she was a deputy on the Kurir TV show Usijanje dana.
– The Prime Minister and the President of Serbia contacted me before the formation of the Government. This ministry would be the same regardless of whether the government of the SNS or the opposition. Everything is easy to change, you just need to change your behavior. We need social dialogue. I was not surprised by the invitation and, as much as they disagreed, I never criticized anyone personally. Our problems will not go away with money, but with a change in behavior, says Comic.
– I have always been in good faith to give people who cannot stand me the opportunity to speak. Nobody from the opposition congratulated me, and this is a job like any other, there is no reason to congratulate. I have believed in dialogue and human rights for 30 years, and we are judged by people with mature democracies, and this in our country is unworthy of the society of the 21st century. I believe in dialogue and I don’t change, I only change the place of the fight, and people have the right to criticize me, says Comic.
– Everyone has the right to live without violence. It took us a year and a half to finish everything we need. People in Serbia need human rights, it is stupid when there is no such thing, injustices are eaten, says Comic.
