Members of the Ministry of the Interior in Novi Sad arrested SM (45) from Vranje, who resides in Novi Sad, on suspicion of having committed the crime of neglect and abuse of a minor.
Last night around 10 p.m., the police, in cooperation with citizens, found their two-year-old daughter locked in a parked car.
It is suspected that the boy spent almost three hours in the car while SM watched the game at the gambling shop across the street.
In cooperation with the Center for Social Work, the girl was returned to her mother, and SM, for whom a court order was issued, was detained for up to 48 hours and will be taken with a criminal report to the Novi Sad attorney general.
In addition, in accordance with the Law on Prevention of Domestic Violence, the police imposed urgent measures on the suspect: temporary expulsion from the apartment and a ban on contacting and approaching the child.
