After the serious injury of Aleksandar Šarc (35) yesterday in the parking lot of the Ušće shopping center in New Belgrade, the police took surveillance footage that may help shed light on the crime.
The garage and the cars in it were inspected in detail, and all material evidence was taken from the place where Sharac fell to reveal the identity of the attacker. Video surveillance footage was also taken immediately, as the garage was covered by a camera.
According to unofficial information, it was the security camera that filmed the attacker with a red jacket, a cap on his head and a mask on his face. It is not yet known how much that description will help, considering that most of them are in a warmer wardrobe – jackets and almost all in masks.
In the search for the shooter, the police also reviewed the camera images in the vicinity of the shopping center, just before Šarac drove in his “Mercedes”, but also after the shooting to try to reconstruct the movement of the attacker, if he had an accomplice who may have been waiting nearby in the vehicle.
It will also be verified which streets Sharac led to the shopping center because the possibility that the attacker had logistical support is not ruled out, which kept him informed about the movement of the target.
The investigation will also talk to people around Šarče, family and friends. The question, however, is whether any of them know, and if so, whether they want to share information with inspectors about potential threats or issues from Sharce. His phone, which he has been in contact with in recent days, will also be examined, and whether he may have received disturbing messages, which could help investigators narrow down the circle of suspects.
Police are looking for the attacker
Let us remind you, Aleksandar Šarac (35) drove to TC “Ušće” yesterday afternoon and parked his “Mercedes” in the garage. On the way back, as he was approaching the vehicle at 4:20 pm, an unidentified executor approached him and fired two bullets into his head. Sharac fell and the attacker fled on foot. The seriously injured Šarac was immediately taken to the Emergency Center for resuscitation, and after the diagnosis, he was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit.
While doctors were maintaining the vital functions of the seriously injured Šarc, the police conducted an investigation in the garage of the shopping center and blocked all of New Belgrade. In search of the attacker, he launched Operation “Whirlwind”, but the shooter has not yet been arrested.
Third time on target
By the way, this is the third time Sharac has been attacked in the last 26 months. Yesterday’s shooting is not the first time Sharac has been attacked, but the two times before, with a combination of happy circumstances, it saved his head.
It was first written in detail about him in August 2018, when a bomb was dropped at the home of former basketball player Vukašin Vule Avdalović. Sharac and Avdalovic were the first neighbors, so investigators did not rule out the possibility that the attacker hit the house. Five months later, when Chaba Der killed Nebojsa Markovic in Banovo brdo, the first target was believed to have been repeated by Sharac, who lives nearby. Although Chaba Der was arrested, it has not yet been clarified if Sharac was the real target.
