A medical technician (25), who was attacked this morning in the Novi Pazar Emergency Room, was injured when he went out to defend his colleague from a man (33) who had previously verbally attacked the technician and broke the counter.
Novi Pazar’s head of the ER, Dr. Elvira Lukac Radoncic, said that first a stranger entered and verbally assaulted the technician at the counter, after which the technician came out to see what it was about, so the attacker verbally and physically assaulted.
– The technician has injuries. Immediately after the attack, he contacted the surgeon on duty, who determined that he had bruises. These are minor bodily injuries. The attacker hit him – says Lukac Radoncic.
He adds that other employees of the Emergency Room immediately called the police and that all the doctors on duty managed to hold the aggressor until her arrival.
– We’re all shocked. We have no security. The guy who got attacked is so calm and good. He will go to a psychiatrist and orthopedist during the day, says the boss.
When asked if it is true that a stranger was looking for a syringe and needle, she replied that she received such information and says she will be charged with criminal charges.
– He and all the technicians and doctors are now in the police and are giving statements – said Elvira Lukac Radoncic.
The Novi Pazar incident is just one of a series of attacks that have been taking place intensively against healthcare workers in the last two months.
