Strangled dogs strangled 600 of the 800 pheasants of the Indjija Hunting Association “Fazan” slaughter.

This morning, the hungry dogs managed to get through the fencing of the pheasant farm and feed almost all the pheasants, who were of age before being released on the hunting ground.

“In 2025, it will be 100 years since the founding of our hunting association, but such a catastrophe in the hunting ground had never been registered until this morning. The damage is immeasurable,” Branko Radjen told local media, Member of the Board of Directors of the Hunting Association “Pheasant”.

The president of that association, Uros Vukas, said that everyone was surprised this morning and moved by the horrible sight of the strangled birds scattered around.

“I don’t even know how to go out in front of the hunters and tell them there will be no hunting. The strangled pheasants were ready to be released onto the hunting ground. A lot of effort was invested in raising those birds,” added Vukas.

Hunter Zoran Maksimović said they have been feeding pheasants for six weeks, as long as they had them when they put them on the pheasant.

“All of our efforts were destroyed at the time by stray dogs. I really don’t know what to say except an unprecedented catastrophe,” Maksimović said.

Irresponsible dog owners

Indjija biologist Dragana Mazinjanin believes the problem lies with irresponsible dog owners.

“Some irresponsible owners leave their pets in the street, and the poor hungry dogs do not choose the way to get food. The 600 strangled pheasants is really a great natural and material damage,” he added.

The police rushed to the scene immediately after the report of the pheasant’s death, as well as workers from the local company “Komunalac”.

It is not yet known how much financial damage the “Pheasant” Hunting Association suffered.
