The director of the Serbian Institute of Oncology and Radiology, Professor Danica Grujicic, says that it is very good to have coronavirus vaccines from various manufacturers, so that everyone can choose which one they want to receive.

Dr. Grujicic noted that she hopes the measures will be respected during the New Year holidays.

“I was on call at the Emergency Center for the last three days and there was chaos from four in the afternoon on December 31 to two in the morning on January 1. After that, they calmed down. They were mostly patients. traumatized, “Grujicic said.

However, he notes that the majority understood the importance of respecting the measures.

“I think there are many more closures for people and they think that if they last a few more months, I am deeply convinced that starting in March it will definitely be better, even if the mass immunization starts, it will be great. Most of them now realized that it is better to wait a little more, two months and then live normally as we lived, and each of us wants to hang out, we are social beings ”, adds the doctor.

When asked if the epidemic has begun to subside, the doctor says she believes it has and that vaccines give more hope.

What I want to commend: Serbia has allowed the purchase of various types of vaccines. Precisely for all the stories that the vaccine is valid, whoever believes in that vaccine must receive it. I think it’s great to have vaccines from multiple manufacturers, so everyone picks which one. she will, “Grujicic said.

He thinks that it is unwise for people who have had the coronavirus and have antibodies to now receive the vaccine.

“Those of us who have been lying down and have IGG, I belong to them, we must wait until we lose those antibodies, then we put them in the form of a vaccine, and now they must receive those critical groups of the population,” says the doctor.

He stressed that vaccination is the most important thing to prevent further spread of the virus.

“The best thing would be if we partner with the Russians to produce our ‘Torlak’, and that is absolutely paramount to me,” Grujicic said.

When asked which vaccine he would prefer to receive in Russian or ‘Torlakov’, Grujicic always prefers ‘Torlakov’ because it is ours, but the license is Russian.

“It is important that our people produce, that they support what they produced, because that gives people the confidence that if you produced the vaccine and you give me, the vaccine is safe,” said the doctor.

He points out that we have to recover ‘Torlak’, and this is one of the most important things in the coming years.

“It is as important as the military, the police, perhaps even more important to the health of our children, to know that a safe vaccine is being administered. And not just this vaccine, ‘Torlak’ should produce everything. ‘Torlak’ can do that. It has the capacity and it just needs to be given an opportunity and to invest in it, “Grujicic emphasized.

He pointed out that despite vaccination, we will have to wear masks for some time, especially in hospitals and in situations where there are seriously ill patients, everyone must comply with hygiene measures.

“What this epidemic has shown well is that we must bathe, wash our hair, wash our hands frequently, take care of personal hygiene. The good thing would be that every citizen of this country has the conditions to do it every day.” added the doctor.

She highlighted the importance of building Oncology 2, because the current conditions for the treatment of cancer patients, as she says, belong to the beginning of the 20th century.

“What makes me happy is the support we have from the Ministry. We have already submitted a request to change the urban plan. The Institute of Oncology and Radiology, considering that before it was part of the Clinical Center, it cannot be built in a meadow, it must be together with the Serbian Clinical Center, where the largest number of oncological operations are performed, ”said Grujicic.

He points out that the newer and more expensive machines should be purchased.

“We are a poor country and we cannot afford to acquire old technology for which there will be no parts in two years. We must always acquire the most modern machines”, concludes Grujicic.
