On the Serbian Radio-Television program “Oko”, Dacic said that now it can be seen that the solution lies in some combination of the Dayton Agreement and the Washington Agreement, and that the European Union lacks a strong hand.
“We are not running away from a political solution.” We think that the next step is to see what the possible political solutions are and move on to accepting a just solution for this issue, otherwise we will not be able to do it with the economy alone, “said Dacic.
He added that regardless of where the political solution takes place, everything must be resolved in the UN Security Council and that it is impossible to solve it without large countries: the United States, China, Russia, but also France and Germany.
Dacic said the big question is whether it is more appropriate for Serbia to settle things in the EU or on the basis of Grenel’s proposal, and that, when you look at Germany’s positions and the flexibility of talks with the United States, sometimes it seems easier to talk to the US administration.
Washington political analyst Obrad Kesić assessed that the US movements show that they are ready to “enforce” what was promised and that the tone of this visit was different, and that the statements that Serbia takes the US as its word they are unusual for American politicians.
He said that the Washington agreement is important from the economic aspect, because it opens economic opportunities for the entire region, because with the arrival of the International Development Finance Corporation (DFC), American investors look at the region differently, which creates the image of Serbia as a stable market.
Kesic evaluated as “very important” that Pristina sign the agreement in Washington, although before they said that they would not sign anything if the status issue is not resolved, and that it is important that they sign the division of powers around Gazivoda.
He considers it very important because he is making a change in relation to previous US administrations, so that political problems can be solved in this way, through shared competencies.
Dacic also commented on the initiative to jointly renovate the buildings of the Ministry of Defense and the Serbian Army General Staff, adding that Serbia has repeatedly said in NATO that it is good for them to participate in the renovation, but that the Government has yet to see if those buildings will be renovated. for military purposes or for other purposes, such as hotels.
Kesić noted that he would like to see those ruins preserved, as a reminder of the bad things that not only the United States did, but also the EU.
The representative of EPUS, Suzana Grubjesic, evaluated that Brussels was a little upset when she saw the appointment of the special envoy of the president of the United States, and that after the agreement in Washington, the caution of Brussels is noticeable.
“I think this is in their favor, if things normalize economically, this opens the way for the normalization of political relations,” Grubjesic said.
