Customs officers were suspicious, searched the vehicle, and then shocked!

Customs officials, in cooperation with the police, prevented the smuggling of migrants: teenagers in a double roof of a specially made van at the Batrovci border crossing. 12, 14 and 17 years old, citizens of Afghanistan, who were transported across the border in inhumane conditions.

The case was discovered on September 10, 2020, approximately two hours after midnight, when a van with Subotica license plates, driven by a 38-year-old Ukrainian national, arrived at the exit side of the Batrovci crossing.

The customs officers decided to carry out a detailed inspection of the truck because the vehicle was empty, without luggage, cargo or small things, which is not usual on a long trip.

The space intended for human trafficking was so narrow that migrants could only be transported there if they were lying down. After they were discovered, the driver and the migrant children were turned over to the police for further jurisdiction.
