Yesterday, customs officers, in cooperation with the police, prevented the smuggling of more than 200 grams of gold jewelry wrapped in a handkerchief and hidden in luggage at the exit of the Horgos crossing.
The violation was discovered when a bus carrying 17 passengers on the Pristina-Germany route arrived for regular screening.
When asked what they had to report for customs control, the driver replied on his own behalf and on behalf of all passengers who have nothing with them except personal luggage.
Later, customs officials decided to examine the passengers’ luggage in more detail, for which they soon found gold jewelry wrapped in a scarf in the suitcase of a 30-year-old Serbian citizen of Albanian nationality.
When they unwrapped the handkerchief that was among their belongings, several massive pieces of gold jewelry appeared in front of the officers: a necklace with 11 ducats, two necklaces without ducats, four bracelets, two pairs of earrings, and a ring.
In the presence of the passengers, the jewel was measured, and it was determined that 230 grams of gold jewel were kept temporarily until the end of the misdemeanor proceeding.
