The Belgrade special court lifted custody of seven defendants, who were arrested on July 1 as part of the investigation of the “Jovanjica” company, court spokeswoman Tatjana Tesic told Tanjug.

His detention ended because the reasons for which it was determined ceased: the proposed witnesses were questioned, so they will defend themselves freely during the procedure.

Investigations against this group are still ongoing.

The majority owner of “Jovanjica”, Predrag Koluvija, as well as eight other people arrested in November 2019, remain in custody and their trial will begin in October.

The detention was lifted for the members of the MUP and BIA AT and BR, RB, M. K and Z. B, as well as MT and SM

They are suspected of committing the crime of association for the purpose of committing criminal offenses, unauthorized production and distribution of narcotics, abuse of official position and falsification of documents.

The prosecution previously announced that members of this criminal group organized from the beginning of 2019 to November 14, 2019 committed the aforementioned crime by order of the organizer who is already in custody, Predrag Koluivija, who is also the majority owner of “Jovanjica.

After the arrest in November, it was announced that members of the Interior Ministry entered the “Jovanjica” farm near Stara Pazova on the orders of the prosecution and found an illegal laboratory for the production of marijuana under artificial conditions.

At that time, 649.4 kilograms of dried marijuana and 65,581 stems of this narcotic were seized in their raw state, weighing almost four tons.
