Gujon met today with Foreign Minister Nikola Selakovic, who expressed the expectation that the state body will continue to work steadily and as a priority to protect the rights and interests and preserve the cultural and linguistic identity of the diaspora and Serbs in the region.

According to the ministry statement, Selaković wished Gujon good luck and success in his work, emphasizing that he is convinced that he, as a proven fighter for a better position of the Serbian people in Kosovo and Metohija and a fighter for the truth about the historical events in the region in the last three years. decade, in close cooperation with the Minister of Foreign Affairs, the Government of Serbia and the President of the Republic to achieve significant progress in matters within their competence.

Gujon thanked the support and stressed that he was grateful for the opportunity to continue working for the Serbian people through the institutions of the Republic of Serbia, and that he would fight with all his might to preserve and develop the spiritual, national and cultural position of the people. Serbian outside his homeland. establishing contacts with Serbia and preserving the Serbian language and the Cyrillic alphabet.

However, not everyone shares the condemnation of Minister Selaković. Milica Cubrilo, a former Diaspora minister in the second government of Vojislav Kostunica, points out that Gujon is a person with no prior experience in the state administration and a man with a very clear political profile who is on the edge of the extreme right.

– As such, it will certainly please a part of our diaspora, but most of it certainly will not. Many of our citizens left the country due to the bad economic situation, but a significant part of them fled due to exactly the policy that Gujon defends, Čubrilo points out.

It explains that the work of the director of the Directorate for Cooperation with the Diaspora involves maintaining and strengthening administrative ties between the homeland and people living abroad, as well as close cooperation with the cultural and educational systems of the countries where citizens live. Serbs.

– The director of administration has many opportunities and a lot of work. Among other things, his work involves connecting those institutions and people abroad who are willing and able to contribute in some way to the development of Serbia. It may be a connection of entrepreneurs, which may or may not result in investments. In addition, it organizes knowledge exchanges between different institutions, organizes conferences, deals with the logistical issue of connecting people from all over the world, says Čubrilo.

Aleksandar Cotric, a member of the Parliamentary Committee for Diaspora and Serbs in the region from the “Aleksandar Vucic – For our children” list, hopes that Gujon will be successful in his new position.

– Yesterday, on the occasion of the election of Arno Guyon, I contacted the presidents of the most important organizations of our diaspora and Serbs in the region, and they all welcomed this appointment and are looking forward to good cooperation with a French Serb or a Serb French. Personally, I look forward to the success of the joint work of the Committee for the Diaspora and the Serbs in the region, of which I am a member, with the Administration headed by a man who is also a member of the Diaspora and therefore has a more sensitive sensitivity. pronounced in this area. It significantly helped the Serbs in Kosovo and Metohija, and I think it will be just as successful when it comes to our compatriots in eight countries in the region, but also around the world. I look forward to concrete steps in terms of liberalization to obtain Serbian citizenship, expanding the network of Serbian schools and simplified voting for our citizens abroad, “said Cotric.

Arno Gujon is the founder of the non-governmental organizations “Solidarity for Kosovo” and “Initiative for the Birth and Stay of Youth in Serbia”.

Through his humanitarian organization, he raised several million euros, which were used to help Kosovo Serbs.

He is the author of four books on Serbia and Kosovo, and for his activities he received numerous awards, including the Order of Saint Sava of the First Order, the Order of Njegos of the First Order, and the Serbian President’s Gold Medal of Merit.

Against his humanitarian work is his political activism. According to the Vice portal in December 2017, Gujon was a member of the Bloque de Identitarios in his youth, a far-right faction in France that emerged in 2003 after the ban of the group “Unité Radicale” after one of its members tried to assassinate the former President Jacques. Shiraka. According to Vice, he announced his presidential candidacy against this movement in November 2010, saying at the conference that he has been part of the movement since its founding.

– I belong to European culture, European nation, European blood. I am an indigenous strain, Gujon said at the conference. He stressed that Islam is irreconcilable with the Republic and with the values of our European civilization.

– There is only one solution: their gradual return to their countries, Vice Guyon said in a statement. However, he did not succeed in his intention to run for president because he did not collect a sufficient number of signatures. Vice also cited one of his quotes from that period that describes his views on citizens of the Islamic faith:

“If the construction of a mosque begins near you, it is up to the French to take matters into their own hands, together with the residents of the neighborhood, to ban that construction.”

The reason for this text on the Vice portal was an interview with Gujon by H1 TV journalist Marija Antić, in which Gujon tried to distance himself from that part of his life, emphasizing that the Identifier Block no longer exists, and that it was member for only six months. .

– I have the right to develop and change, Gujon said at the time, specifying that he is not opposed to Islam in its entirety, but to “fundamental Islam that supports terrorism.”

Gratitude

Arno Gujon was not available for comment yesterday. He wrote on the social network Twitter: “Thank you to the government of Serbia, Minister Selaković and President Vučić for the trust, as well as the opportunity to work for Serbia from the highest state leaders. Thank you all for the enormous support you have given me. they have toasted since I moved to Serbia in 2012. “
