An infected student appeared in each school, so there was no spread of the virus within a class, confirming that the measures taken are giving results.
The Ministry of Education says that the Education Inspectorate carries out preventive visits, advice and inspections without prior notice to schools, in order to verify whether the measures are being respected.
For non-compliance with the measures and weaknesses that are noticed, the directors are first notified.
“That model worked well and schools reacted well. Over the last week, there were nine warnings in the system of some 2,000 institutions, and this week none,” said Education Minister Mladen Šarčević.
He emphasized that data on the small number of infected children is a good indicator that this teaching model can continue to be applied.
The Trampoline Institute of Public Health has given clear guidelines on how schools will behave if infected students appear.
If an infected student appears in a class and has attended classes up to 48 hours before the onset of symptoms in that class, all students must wear masks during their school stay, including during classes.
General and personal hygiene measures are being reinforced, and especially hand washing and disinfection measures. The classroom is cleaned and all frequently touched surfaces (benches, chairs, switches, handles, door handles, pins, cabinets) are disinfected by school personnel with an alcohol-based agent.
If two confirmed cases appear in a class, all students in that class are placed in self-isolation for 14 days by decision of the health inspection. During the self-isolation period, classes are monitored online.
The classroom is generally cleaned and all frequently touched surfaces (benches, chairs, switches, handles, door handles, tweezers, ormatics) are disinfected with an alcohol-based agent.
