BELGRADE – I hope the crisis staff will confirm that the same regime of economic activity will continue after January 11, that is, that catering and retail facilities, as well as those working in the service sector, will continue to operate until 8 pm – said the Deputy Mayor of Belgrade, Goran Vesić, to Kurir
He states that during the next week he will meet at the Serbian Chamber of Commerce with representatives of this organization and companies from the services sector in order to propose a new mitigation of measures to the crisis headquarters of the Government of the Republic of Serbia as soon as start mass immunization.
They will also distribute brochures
Transportation of the elderly for vaccination
– I am fighting for all jobs in Belgrade, just as I will defend every vaccine for our Belgrade. Because Belgrade is ready. We will pay for the equipment of the checkpoints ourselves, we will maintain them ourselves, we will distribute brochures to citizens about the need for vaccination, we will transport the elderly who wish to do so and cannot come to get vaccinated on their own. We will use all the resources that we and the economy of Belgrade have, says Vesić, adding that they will work on it from morning to night just to vaccinate as many people as possible and return to a normal life, as before the crown. – This city must work and we need tourists. That is the greatest interest of Belgrade. That will happen faster than we expect, Vesić notes.
– Nine days have passed since the celebration of the New Year and there has not been a significant increase in the number of infected people, which is a consequence of the discipline shown by the New Year, both by the citizens of Belgrade and by the catering companies . There is only one day in January that we can expect a potentially larger gathering of people, and that is January 13 and the celebration of the Serbian New Year. Slave, by Sv. Stefan, who today, to Saint John and Saint Sava who await us, is celebrated by a much smaller number of people than Saint Nicholas or Arandjelovdan and I am sure that our people will behave responsibly, as they did during the last year when they celebrated Christmas or Christmas, without guests in the presence of only family members – Vesić points out and adds:
– Thanks to President Vučić, Serbia is the third country in Europe to start immunizing the population. Belgrade has offered the Government of the Republic of Serbia 17 immunization points, which we will prepare and maintain. My job is to ensure that the citizens of Belgrade, whoever they want, can receive the vaccine quickly. As soon as immunization begins, we will ask for a new relaxation of measures so that companies working in the service sector can work longer. The economy must work. I know they are attacking me for that, but in the city I am responsible for the economy of Belgrade, and that means jobs. 40,000 Belgraders work in the service sector, and these are the people who need to bring their wages back to their families. I am paid to fight for jobs in Belgrade. I am a practical man. Some 190,000 more people work in Belgrade than in 2012 and my intention is to preserve those jobs and open new ones.
