Criminalize partygoers!

The key to success in the fight against kovid is rigorous control over the implementation of the measures, with the application of punishment so that those who organize parties and gatherings are criminally sanctioned for intentionally spreading the infection. And not just 150,000 dinars, which is profitable for some, considering their earnings are much higher for violating the measures. We have to reduce the risks, the number of infected and, therefore, of deaths, that is the most important thing, says epidemiologist Prof. de Kurir. Dr. Branislav Tiodorović, member of the crisis staff.

Effects are expected

Dr. Tiodorović emphasizes that crisis personnel, in addition to measures for our people coming from abroad (see box on page six), insist on rigorous monitoring of the implementation of measures:

– Take Belgrade, which has 2.5 million inhabitants. And that only one percent of them do not respect the measures, and that number is probably even higher, that is, 25,000 people. And between 25 and 30 percent of them have such a disease that they have to be hospitalized. And that is why we are buried and that is why so many of our people are dying. And that is why the one who deliberately organizes a party should be held criminally responsible.

Remember there was a fire when everyone relaxed the measurements.

– Not only the virus and its characteristics, entry point or routes of transmission are important for the outbreak, but also the amount of the virus, which is even higher when many people are infected. The severity of the clinical picture is now worrying because there are many sources of infection and therefore people receive a greater amount of the virus. Until now, people have been dying in clinical centers, where the most difficult patients are housed, and now they die every day in hospitals all over Serbia.

He says it is too early to see the effects of the current measures, closing cafes and other facilities at 5 p.m. and on weekends.

– Around December 15, we will see if there are any effects. If we had punished rigorously until now, we would not be in this situation. We all came to the conclusion that the curfew and state of emergency should not be applied, but the measures should be strictly observed. After 5 in the afternoon, the streets are half empty, but the problem is the private parties. And the communal militia can locate and punish them. I’m not against people going to the mountains because when they ski, they have a scarf around their mouth. But the problem is the behavior in a cafe, restaurant, hotel. About 460 Belgraders alone are in Nis hospitals, says Dr. Tiodorović:

Masks for one more year

– The New Year can be celebrated if five people with masks and distance get together. Christmas is a family holiday and it should continue to be.

If the measures were implemented before December 15 in full, fully and with the commitment of all those who need to control, Dr. Tiodorović says we would have a controlled situation before the New Year.

– Some measures will remain until the end of 2021, and those are undoubtedly masks, distance and disinfection. I hope that we will be able to gradually abolish certain measures for catering services and shopping centers, and that we will have a much calmer and more controlled situation in early spring and in June. Until then, the vaccination should begin.

SUSPECT

They found a man scratching a car

On Tuesday, police identified a 46-year-old man when he was suspected of scratching Dr. Tiodorović’s car in Niš on Monday. An informative conversation was held with the suspect, and everything was reported to the Nis Basic Prosecutor’s Office, RTS reported.

– I do not want to pay attention to that and I will not comment – said Dr. Tiodorović de Kurir.

VACCINATION WILL NOT WORK THIS YEAR

Measures until herd immunity is 60%

The vaccination cannot be before the New Year, we will receive 200,000-300,000 doses in the first delivery, not two or three million. Well, the British got two million, and bought 20. The first to be immunized will be health workers, then the police, the army, education workers, the media … And that will last at least all year. The measures will continue because there will be unvaccinated people, those who cannot be vaccinated due to diseases and allergies, those under 18 years of age, who will not be vaccinated. All measures remain until we achieve a herd immunity of at least 60 percent – said Dr. Tiodorović.

Regarding Interpol’s warning about fake vaccines, he says the same happened with penicillin, but also with other vaccines.

– We can occupy that exclusively with controlled supply, which passes through the state. The vaccines will be stored in “Torlak” and administered in authorized health centers and institutes.
