Belgrade Deputy Mayor Goran Vesić declared today that Belgrade is once again the biggest focus of the corona virus in Serbia and urged citizens to adhere to epidemiological measures.

Vesić told TV Pink that out of 111 newly infected people in Serbia, 40 percent are in Belgrade, meaning that up to the total number of those tested, 4.3 percent are in Belgrade.

He added that the Crisis Team would meet today and called on the public to adhere to all epidemiological measures so that “we do not ruin what we did in the previous months, when Serbia was one of the countries with the fewest new infections.” .

Vesić emphasized that masks should be worn in public transportation, shopping malls, and all other enclosed spaces.

“It was colder for a few days, the gardens were not working and what is happening is a consequence of the masks not being used indoors. I pray and appeal to all the Belgraders, to the store employees, to put masks inside. That is the only way to protect us from the epidemic, not to get into the situation we were in in June or March, and so that everyone knows someone who is positive for Kovid-19 again, “he said Vesić.

He added that the citizens of Belgrade, if the measures are respected, will be able to get out of this situation in the best possible way and receive a vaccine that will allow us to permanently protect ourselves from the virus.

Vesić stressed that yesterday the vaccination against seasonal flu began, which can be received in all health centers.

“All those who wanted to be vaccinated at the City Assembly yesterday,” Vesić said and asked citizens to receive the vaccine.

He emphasized that the flu vaccine is sufficient.

“During all these months, we have tried to make the restoration facilities work, the economy work, people earn money, life flows normally and at the same time protect the health of the population,” said Vesić.

He pointed out that the weekend is approaching, when people behave more relaxed, and asked citizens to be disciplined.

“We checked about 80 facilities last night, more or less measures were applied, but there are certain restaurants and guests who do not want to apply measures. Please act responsibly this weekend because as we behave this weekend, such an epidemiological situation will be Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, “Vesić emphasized.

He added that if citizens are responsible, people’s lives and health will be saved and life will continue to flow normally.

On the state of emergency

When asked if, if there is an increase in the number of infected, a reintroduction of the state of emergency or the situation in Belgrade can be expected, Vesić said that this is not an issue on the agenda.

“At this time, it is enough that we all adhere to the epidemiological measures,” Vesić said, citing schools in which only one case of transfer from one student to another was recorded as an example of compliance with the measures.
