However, the Kosovo Prime Minister’s office did not comment on that request, reports Koha.

In a press release, Thaci said that he considers the opening of the issue of the Union of Serbian Municipalities (ZSO) to be a big and very dangerous mistake by the Kosovo government.

“Opening the JCC issues in the Brussels dialogue is a big and very dangerous mistake by the government. It is a violation of the sovereignty of our state. This issue was resolved within the Ahtisaari plan, which preceded the declaration of independence, but also within the Brussels agreement in April 2013 “No one has the mandate to discuss closed issues on behalf of Kosovo, in Brussels or anywhere,” the Kosovo President’s Office said in a statement.

Thaci pointed out that Kosovo will never allow the creation of a political entity on its territory, which would be a replica of the Republic of Serbia on the territory of Kosovo.

“The debate on the MCC in Brussels is the beginning of the establishment of the Republika Srpska in Kosovo. While the debate on property in Kosovo with Serbia is contrary to the Constitution and laws of Kosovo and violates the sovereignty of our state. Assembly must urgently address this dangerous step of the government in Brussels dialogue, “said the statement.

The president of Kosovo also declared that a resolution should be voted urgently that would prohibit the prime minister from negotiating Kosovo’s internal affairs and issues that threaten internal order.

As stated, the Kosovo Prime Minister’s Office did not want to respond to the request of the Presidency.

The Director of the Communication Office of the Government of Kosovo, Xhavit Beqiri, noted that Kosovo entered the dialogue process to achieve mutual recognition.

“We do not comment at all on the president’s initiative. The dialogue with Serbia is based on the Kosovo Constitution. This means that the independence of Kosovo is indisputable and that territorial integrity cannot be negotiated. The Kosovo delegation entered this process with a single objective, to reach a global agreement, legally binding, that will result in mutual recognition, as well as in the Euro-Atlantic perspective of the region, “said Beqiri.

At a press conference last night, Thaci criticized Hoti for endangering Kosovo’s statehood by bringing up the JCC issue at talks in Brussels.

In response to Thaci’s criticism, Hoti claimed that the president was deliberately distorting the information, because the dialogue in Brussels would not discuss the Association.

Kosovo and Serbia will resume expert-level talks on Thursday (September 17). The meeting will precede the meeting between Prime Minister Hoti and Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić on September 28.
