Unknown persons removed the commemorative plaque from the building on Milesevska Street in Vracar, where he lived.

The commemorative plaque was placed there three years ago in honor of the great actor Batin, a friend of Radoslav Lale Vujadinović for decades, who says he is saddened and disappointed by this event, Blic reported.

The Vice President of the City Assembly, Andrea Radulović, strongly condemned the vandal act of stealing the commemorative plaque.

– I strongly condemn the lack of respect for the character and work of our great actor Velimir Bata Živojinović and the vandalism of ruthless vandals who demonstrated by stealing a commemorative plaque that nothing is sacred to them. The theft, cruelty and destruction of the cult of personality that made an immeasurable cultural contribution to the capital, the country and the region, show that vandalism is the only indicator of hatred towards everything that represents the preservation of tradition and the culture of memory. It is an incredible fact that there are people who at any time, in any way want to destroy, steal, destroy the landmarks of our city and who for irrational and unacceptable reasons destroy the memory of all the people who gave their city their talent, love, unlimited. advocating for the development of culture – noted Andrea Radulović.

According to her, the city of Belgrade, in cooperation with the municipality of Vracar and the Institute for the Protection of Cultural Monuments of the city of Belgrade, will make a new commemorative plaque to Velimir Bata Zivojinovic.

– The commemorative plaque will once again adorn the wall of the building on Milesevska Street and we hope that it remains intact and is worth remembering one of the greatest acting legends of the country and the region – said Andrea Radulovic, who is also chair of the Commission of Monuments and Names of Squares and Streets Assembly of the City of Belgrade.
