Aleksandar boy Ć. (15) died of a heart attack at the intersection of Kosta Stamenkovića and Janka Veselinovića streets in Niš, while around 1.35 am he fled from a man who was chasing him with a knife out of pure peace.

Experts explain that fear only contributed to the most likely heart problem the teenager had, leading to a fatal outcome.

“Fear probably affected the lethal outcome, but usually there should have been some disorder in the past, in terms of some, perhaps, heart defect that was complicated by a racing heart rate. In fear, the pulse increases and may exceed 200 beats. So they are ineffective. Those heart contractions and the heart muscle do not have enough oxygen. There is a cardiac arrest and, unfortunately, a fatal outcome. Fear itself can also cause death, but my experience has shown that the cause is always some heart failure, “says Professor Dr. Miljko Ristic, a famous Serbian cardiac surgeon.

The unfortunate boy was walking down Hajduk Stanka Street on the fateful night with a friend of the same age, and then they came across a bully. That man ate in the street and threw something at them. Alexander passed him first and then returned immediately, thinking that the man had addressed him. However, the man pulled out a knife. Three teenagers started to flee, but Aleksandar soon fell and sadly passed away.

Other bystanders came to the rescue, as well as the ambulance doctors who arrived within five minutes, but there was no help for Aleksandar.

Zorka Stojanović, the grandmother of the girl who was with Aleksandar that night, says she was awakened in the middle of the night by the police who were looking for the girl.

“I almost fainted when I saw them at the door, I thought something had happened to my son, but the police assured me that everything was fine with her. It was only in the morning that I found out that her friend had really died,” she said .

Yesterday, the boy’s friends on social networks said goodbye to him en masse with sad messages. The higher prosecutor’s office ordered an autopsy, after which the exact cause of the death of the young Nishlija will be known.
