This will complete the six lanes of this road to the Ibar highway. Yesterday, after talking with the investor, contractors and subcontractors, the Minister of Construction, Zorana Mihajlović, said that she expected that the entire section of bypass B, up to Bubanj Potok, would be completed in 2022. The Minister also noted that they are being negotiating with the Chinese contractor, the company “Power China”, on the continuation of the construction of the bypass towards Pancevo.

– Construction of the last, section C, could begin during 2022 – announced the minister. – Every kilometer that we finish and include in traffic is important to reduce congestion in Belgrade, because it is one of the few European cities that still does not have a ring road, and between 16,000 and 17,000 cars pass through here every day.

ONE SECTION IN THREE DECADES

OF the three sections, only one was fully completed in 30 years, from Batajnica to Dobanovci, while construction of the sector from Dobanovci to Ostružnica was completed in the other. After the bridge over the Sava, previously only three right lanes were paved, up to the Straževica tunnel, while works are currently being carried out on the left lane. After the Straževica tunnel, the constructors have to pave all six lanes, because at the moment only the ring road leads to Bubanj potok, which is overloaded, especially with trucks.

The acting director of “Roads of Serbia”, Zoran Drobnjak, said that this road is at the top of the priority list of installations that need to be completed, and that he has been warning about it for ten years.

– It is not easy to carry out the project to build a bypass around Belgrade, but despite the problems with expropriation, we will complete it on time – said Drobnjak. – We will organize meetings every month with the Minister and with the contractors even more often.

The construction of the part of the ring road from the Sava bridge near Ostružnica to Bubanj potok will cost 207 million euros. It is financed by 85% of the loan from the Export-Import Bank of China and 15% of the budget of the Republic of Serbia. The total length of the bypass from Batajnica to Bubanj potok is 47 kilometers and the part under construction is 20.4 kilometers long. To complete the entire project, which includes a six-lane route to Pancevo, it is necessary to build another 31 kilometers of road from Bubanj Potok, which includes the bridge over the Danube near Vinca.
