Serbian Prime Minister Ana Brnabić assessed tonight that it is realistic for one million coronavirus vaccines to arrive in January, and expressed her belief that the majority of Serbia’s citizens will be vaccinated by mid-2021.

In an interview with Kurir TV, he said that a new contingent of vaccines, Feiser-Biontek, would arrive on January 4, and announced the imminent establishment of a call center to request vaccination.

“We received a new eradication plan announced from Pfizer-Biontek, we expect significantly larger quantities of that vaccine to arrive in Serbia in January. We expect the next contingent to arrive on January 4. Serbia will certainly not interrupt this vaccination campaign,” Brnabic said. . .

He expressed great thanks to the Pfizer partners, because they showed seriousness and because a small country like Serbia is one of the first to sign an agreement with them.

“In December, they cut the first delivery, because in general they cut production, so they cut the deliveries for everyone. They will more than make up for it during January,” the prime minister said, adding that she was convinced that much larger quantities would arrive soon. of the Pfizer vaccine.

“We have excellent communication and we can trust them. At the same time, Pfizer is truly one of the largest pharmaceutical companies in the world. Both President Aleksandar Vučić and Health Minister Zlatibor Lončar and I are in constant communication with other manufacturers, and I hope China and Russia is associated with a certain amount of vaccine in early January. In that sense, we will have no problem continuing with vaccination, “Brnabic said.

When asked if the one million vaccines announced in January is a realistic figure, the prime minister replied: “Absolutely.”

She explained that she and President Aleksandar Vučić agreed that they should be among the first to receive the vaccine to set an example for the citizens of Serbia that the vaccine is safe.

“We agreed that we will be vaccinated with different vaccines. I felt it was my obligation to set an example to all citizens of Serbia, and President Vučić will be vaccinated with the vaccine from the next manufacturer arriving in Serbia,” said the Prime Minister.

He emphasized that Serbia is the third country in Europe to start vaccination and that vaccination in gerontological centers is going very well.

“According to professional services, we decided to start with gerontology centers, and very soon we will start with health workers, and then with other priority groups, such as members of the Ministry of the Interior, the military, social and educational workers,” said the Prime Minister.

When asked if it is realistic to expect around 100,000 healthcare workers to be vaccinated in January, Brnabić replied that much more is expected from Pfizer than planned, 16,000 more, as well as that the Russian Sputnik V and the Chinese Sinovak are expected to be big. quantities.

According to her, by mid-2021, the largest number of citizens will be vaccinated.

“In the next few days we will open contact centers for people to register by phone or email who are interested, so that we have a known number of people who want it as soon as possible. We will open it in the first week of January ”, said Ana Brbanic.

On Tuesday, the decision on the measures for the New Year.

Prime Minister Ana Brnabić announced tonight that a Crisis Staff session will take place on Tuesday, at which a decision will be made on measures for the New Year.

Brnabic said communication between government representatives and Crisis Staff experts is excellent, although there is sometimes disagreement.

“The medical part cares about the protection of the health system and the health of the citizens, and I, as prime minister and the rest of the economic part of the crisis staff, have to look at some other things, how these measures affect the economy. This fight is hugely expensive. Even more than a million euros. The tests alone bring in around 700-720,000 euros a day, when you have 20,000 tests, “said Brnabic.

It is a serious struggle to reconcile these two things, and the mental state of the nation must also be taken care of, he said.

The medical side of Crisis Staff was not in favor of easing the measures this weekend, but a good compromise was found. The number of new infected is declining and the economy is working, he said.

“Why do we postpone the measures to be taken for the new year? Well, because we try to adopt all measures in a timely manner. There is a fine line between how the health of citizens is protected and how much is given to the economy to It works. You have to find the best possible balance. “And medical care is not so overloaded, so we cannot admit people to hospitals. It is extremely difficult,” said the Prime Minister.

“If you make too restrictive a decision too soon, it will pay off health results, but it will kill the economy and it will take you five, six or seven years to recover,” Brnabic said, noting that public debt and budget deficits are also taken into account.
