“BUS PLUS” REPLACES “BG CARD”: A new application is introduced for the payment of driving and notification of delays

With the new contract, the “bus plus” card will go down in history and will be replaced by the “Belgrade card”. It will work on the principle of two wallets, where one will be able to pay for a transport ticket, and the other will be able to replenish and thus pay for the use of public bikes, parking, going to theaters, cinemas, but also get discounts in stores. .

As Deputy Mayor Goran Vesić said, “Bus Plus is going down in history and they are looking for a new partner to protect the interests of the city.” He stressed that the previous contract with the company “Apex” was made on the basis of a previous tender, not a tender. of which there were many objections to transparency.

– With the new contract, the City Council will look for a partner who will accept the maximum percentage of compensation of 7.92 percent instead of the previous 8.53 percent – said Vesić.

With the new contract, the hardware and all equipment immediately pass into the hands of the City, and not just after the expiration of the contract, while the City receives the software after the expiration of the first year.

The Secretary of Public Transport, Jovica Vasiljevic, explained that a new scope of service is now expected from the new partner.

– We will have a greater number of vehicles – 2,151 compared to the previous 1,853 in which the equipment is installed, 300 drivers instead of the previous 200, a minimum of 1,500 points of sale (now 800), longer card issuance day. The partner will be forced to improve the possibility of paying for transport by mobile phone by developing an application, which will also inform passengers about changes in public transport lines, delays, changes in the schedule – explained the secretary.

The public call will last for 60 days, at which point the ticket sales companies must present their offers. The new partner must be selected by the end of March 2021. Until then, with the company “Apex Solution”, which created the “Bus Plus” system, the contract was extended by an annex, until the end of the selection of a new partner.

PRE-CONTRACT CAMPAIGN

BEFORE concluding a contract with a new partner, the City will launch a campaign to increase transportation rates and present the new measures to the public. As Deputy Mayor Goran Vesić said, it is unrealistic that two-thirds of public transport costs are covered by the budget, and that the failure of citizens to pay for the ticket means that 100 buses are lost a year.

WEAK POINT CONTROL

The NEW tender was preceded by a study by the Belgrade Faculty of Transport. It showed that the greatest shortcomings of the system were the complex process of validation and collection of tickets, as well as the insufficient powers of the controllers.
