Many experts have compared the arrest of Veljko Belivuk, Marko Miljković and 19 other people who were detained on suspicion of involvement in the most serious crimes with the Zemun clan from day one. We investigate the differences and similarities between these criminal groups.
A major operation by the police, prosecutors and the Security Information Agency began early Thursday morning, with the arrest of Veljko Belivuk aka Veljko Nevolj and his closest associate Marko Miljkovic in Rudnik and Belgrade as they headed to destroy cars. used to carry out heavy criminal cases.

The investigation against the group, which is presumed to be Belivuk, has so far been suspected of three murders, kidnappings, extortion, drug dealing and other serious crimes, and since the investigation has not been closed, it is believed that the list of these Criminal offenses could also be expanded.
Comparing this group to the Zemun clan, one of the most brutal organized groups in our area, the criminologist Dobrivoje Radovanović explained their differences.
– The Zemun clan was made up of people who were involved in very different forms of crime, starting with drug addiction, kidnapping, organized crime, blackmail and had behind an armed formation in the form of a Special Operations Unit because the leaders of that unit were direct collaborators, if not members of the Zemun clan. This gave them incredible power, which cannot be compared to the current power of fan groups, even if they all come together. And there is an important difference in that, which is why a good part of State Security was behind the Zemun clan. That’s not the case here – explains Radovanović for “Blic”.
On the other hand, says Radovanović, not only this, but also other groups that call them “fanatics”, although they are not in the true sense of the word, face the same kind of crime.
– Drug trafficking predominates among them, as well as blackmail, but not so much kidnapping as in the other case. However, the rackets and the so-called provision of restaurants, cafes and all possible catering facilities are working to the same extent, says Radovanović.
– My position is that the Zemun clan was incomparably stronger. It was so strong that it was able to organize the assassination of the Prime Minister, which is equivalent to the capabilities of some secret police in many countries, Radovanović concludes.
The action continued at Ritopek
The action of the police and the Office of the Prosecutor for Organized Crime continued on the fourth day after the arrest, and members of the Gendarmerie were deployed to the Ritopek settlement in Belgrade, where one of the so-called Veljko Belivuk granaries is allegedly located.
The terrain around Smederevski, drawn in a circle of about two kilometers on Sunday, was still searched by gendarmes with search dogs, and a special diving unit was involved.
So far the police have found a house in Banatski Brestovac with a makeshift shooting range where members of the Veljina group practiced handling weapons, a hut in Vrcin from which biological traces were removed, a hut near Loznica, Gornji Milanovac, Kursumlija and the premises of the Partizan Football Club stadium, where in one of them, the police found 15 people on Thursday morning.
Belivuk’s house in Zvezdara, which is still under construction, was also under police scrutiny, as well as the apartment in Belgrade where he lived with his single wife. The police were also in Pancevo, which was one of the strongholds of Velja Nevolja.
Starting Monday, a financial investigation
Twenty of the 22 suspects were taken into custody. Veljko Belivuk and Marko Miljković are personally suspects in three criminal acts of aggravated homicide, as well as criminal association and drug trafficking.
In addition to the two, people with the initials VV and V. D are accused of an aggravated homicide, NL, VD and M. B with the second, and D. T, VG and M.
