Brussels has a great interest in removing the disobedient sovereign Orban from power, who is a thorn in his side, and that is why the Hungarian opposition, who joined that goal, will have the wind in favor of the Eurocrats in the next parliamentary elections, historian Sasa Adamovic believes.
According to Adamovic, the latest news that Hungary’s six strongest opposition parties have already teamed up to oppose Viktor Orban with a joint candidate for prime minister in the spring 2022 parliamentary elections and, as they say, change the era it is not unexpected.

– Orban is a politician who has not been viewed favorably by the Brussels bureaucracy for a long time, considering that he has been pursuing a sovereignist policy in Hungary in many ways for years. Since 2010, when he came back to power, he has won every election in Hungary very convincingly, with a two-thirds majority, says our interlocutor.
He recalls that he demonstrated his sovereignty policy by adopting a strong anti-immigrant position, opposing Brussels, which he recently confirmed when he and Poland literally vetoed the adoption of a new seven-year EU budget and the Crown Fund, because he did not like the clear Brussels’s tendency to interfere in Hungary’s domestic politics.

Adamovic also points to Orban’s conflict with George Soros, one of the most recognized representatives of the American deep state, also on the issue of illegal migration. As he points out, that culminated in the fact that Soros had to move his university from Hungary.
– All this has accumulated and it is obvious that Viktor Orban, with his sovereignist policy, was resentful with the Eurocrats in Brussels and it is quite certain that the incentive for the unification of the Hungarian opposition also came from those circles – our interlocutor has no dilemma .
When asked what the “epochal change” expected by the opposition would look like, he said that he would actually put Hungary back on track before 2010 and Orban’s rise to power and accept the policies he now opposes. However, it points to another time.
“The problem with uniting the Hungarian opposition is that its most important party, which was in power until 2010, is known for crime and corruption scandals and is largely responsible for Orban’s return to power and the rise of his Fidesz party “.
The objective justifies the means
He points out that part of that united coalition is the industrious Jobbik party, known for its radical nationalist views, which has reportedly transformed and become more moderate. We know from experience, he adds, that these parties in broad coalitions are acceptable to Brussels, regardless of their ideological affiliations, only if they serve the purpose.

He thinks that the citizens of Hungary should be very careful. Remember that due to corruption and criminal scandals, the ruling party with Prime Minister Ferenc Đurčan lost the 2010 elections. Now it is the strongest opposition party, and Đurčan, although he is in the shadows, is trying to impose his wife in the new opposition coalition as joint prime minister candidate.
Why do Eurocrats in Brussels have hair on their heads?
Adamovic says that it seems to him that the coalition is actually a cat in the bag and that we had the opportunity to see it in other countries when parties that had nothing in common except the goal of overthrowing someone joined.
When asked if this overthrow is more of an internal necessity or a necessity of an external factor, our interlocutor says that Orban is following a sovereignist policy, a policy of protection of national and state interests.
– It is a policy that has managed to solve numerous Hungarian problems, especially economic ones. Due to such a policy, Orban put his finger in the eye of Brussels or some of the most powerful countries in the EU that were not satisfied with Hungary’s policy, but not just his. Hungary is very influential in the Visegrad Group, which is still made up of Slovakia, Poland and the Czech Republic, and they represent a very serious bloc of countries that share many common values, Adamovic notes.
