Commenting on the European Commission’s report assessment that there was no progress in Serbia when it comes to improving the electoral process, Prime Minister Ana Brnabić said that she has been working non-stop since 2017, and the best example of this is the voter list, which is more up-to-date today than ever, adding that some of the Commission’s evaluations are flat.

At a press conference after a meeting with youth organizations dedicated to the “My First Salary” program, he stated that, thanks to previous work in the electoral process, Serbia has “an increasingly up-to-date list of voters.”

“I agree with some comments about the electoral process, I do not agree with some. We will speak openly, as we have spoken so far. For some evaluations, I think they are too flat, for some I think they are simply repeated without stopping and without giving details I will look for concrete examples because I don’t want to do my work on a lump sum basis, and I can’t talk to our partners if they give global ratings, “said Brnabić.

“There is no data on the number of young people who have left the country”

He noted that there is no data on how many young people left the country.

“We don’t have that information, but they know that we are actively working on mapping our diaspora, to find out as much as we can where our young people are, why they left and what we should do to get them back. We have opened a partnership with Serbian businessmen from San Francisco . “It mainly gathers young people. There are also a significant number of people returning to Serbia. What is not a problem for us is not the brain drain itself, it can be and be good for a country, “he said.

Invitation to young people for the program “My first salary”

He invited young people to apply for the “My first salary” program and pointed out that the conditions to participate in the program were met by 8,537 employers who offered 22,984 jobs.

Brnabic affirmed that 10,000 young people will be able to acquire their first work experience through this program and thus overcome the “handle 22” that everyone faces, and that is the problem that employers always look for work experience, announced the Government of Serbia.

“All companies announced 28,706 jobs, of which we verified 22,984 positions advertised through the ‘My first salary’ program,” added Brnabic, specifying that of a total of 10,295 companies that announced that they were looking for workers, 8,537 employers met the conditions to participate in the program. .

He noted that the “My First Salary” program is a response to criticism from young people and their call that the state must do something and help them achieve their first work experience.

Two billion dinars were set aside from the budget for the program, which, he estimated, is a large amount of money that has been set aside in an extraordinary way, even though the country is battling the coronavirus.

As he recalled, young people will be able to apply to the program until November 8.

According to data from the National Employment Service (NES), employers in Belgrade are most interested in the “My First Salary” program, followed by Novi Pazar, Nis, Novi Sad, Kragujevac, Jagodina and Sremska Mitrovica.
