Prime Minister Ana Brnabić stated that the Freedom House report on the state of democracy in Serbia does not show the real state of things, which is why the government sent a “studious response in 18 pages”, which should be published on Thursday.
“I have to say that the report is full of contradictions, the subjective approach of a person who wrote it is obvious, and I am surprised that Freedom House does not hire a team of experts, but a person who works for BIRN,” said Brnabic. to RTS.
That person, he added, refers to references and sources that say the opposite of what is stated in the report.
Brnabic said he would do everything possible for the Serbian government to publish its response on Thursday.
Although the report does not show the real state of things in Serbia, there are also things that remain and we will adopt some observations, Brnabić said.
When asked for her opinion on the demonstrations organized in front of the parliament, Brnabić said she was glad that the Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić reacted immediately and asked the citizens not to meet, because there is still a risk that the epidemic spreads.
“We hope that in June we can have larger meetings of 50 people, but now we must not do that, it is important that we continue to respect all the measures that the government has adopted,” said Brnabić.
Speaking about entering Serbia, the Prime Minister said that our citizens are allowed to enter with a negative PCR test, no longer than 72 hours, and if they don’t have it, a 14-day self-isolation period is mandatory.
Brnabic said 1.6 million citizens applied for 100 euros the first day, and believes that the phone numbers of the call center for registration will be published in the next two days.
“The economic measures were presented on time and we have no problems with a high unemployment rate due to the Covid-19 crisis. Both the IMF and the World Bank said that Serbia will have the smallest decline this year and the highest growth next year” he added.
It was important for us to get into the shooting, as President Vučić said. We are concerned not to relax the measures too soon, but also not to be late, and it seems to me that the situation is under control, the economy is working and it is important that we continue to be disciplined, Brnabić concluded.
