The session is held in the Great Hall of the House of the National Assembly, and there are 206 out of 250 deputies in the hall.

The session was opened by the President of the Assembly, Ivica Dačić, who stated that there are conditions for its holding.

Serbia is no longer a country that is experiencing historic defeats and has become a country that is winning, Prime Minister-designate Ana Brnabić said in her introductory speech.

According to her, the country has entered a period of stable economic growth and is often among the top in Europe in terms of successes.

“Today, Serbia is a different country from 2017 and fundamentally different from 2014,” said Ana Brnabić, adding that Serbia today is a country with a low unemployment rate, with an average salary of around 500 euros and the highest growth of Europe.

As he said, Serbia has become an internationally respected country, and not a country where ultimatums and conditions are imposed.

“Serbia has become a country where suffering and pensions are continually increasing. We all did it together, changing habits, but it was anything but easy,” Brnabić said, adding that the transformation was started by then-Prime Minister Aleksandar Vučić and that paid off.

He said he expects things to return to normal only in 2022, and that recovery is expected in 2029.

The government, as he said, will coordinate all its movements “in detail” with the president and the citizens of Kosovo and Metohija.

He said that the Government will have political challenges in relations with Pristina, regarding the continuation of the dialogue on the normalization of relations and the problems in the establishment of the Union of Serbian Municipalities, which it will not resign.

“The new government will continue to pursue a policy of protection of vital national interests, peace and cooperation as regards Kosovo and Metohija, with the aim of protecting our people, cultural and religious heritage, but also peace and stability throughout the region, “Brnabic said.

Brnabic said in the Serbian Parliament that the government will have six goals: to combat the coronavirus and strengthen health, preserve the vital interests of Serbs in Kosovo and Metohija, combat organized crime, preserve the independence of Serbia and independent decision-making, the rule of law and speed up reforms on the European path. and further economic strengthening of Serbia.

He said that the first priority of the new Serbian government is protecting people’s health and supporting the health system, saying that Serbia is facing a “difficult winter”.

Almost everyone in the meeting place wears protective masks and keeps a safe distance.

Brnabic emphasized that the state must show that it is stronger than organized crime, but also asked the security services to protect President Aleksandar Vucic “who declared and started the war against the mafia.”

He reiterated in the Serbian Assembly that attacks on Vučić can be seen every day with the aim of dehumanizing and criminalizing him to the extent that each attack against him becomes expected and understandable.

Brnabic emphasized that the state will provide full protection to all those involved in the fight against organized crime: “every police and financial inspector, prosecutor, judge, journalist or state official who is targeted by criminal gangs will be protected.”

Organized crime must take a decisive blow by cutting off its sources of funding and breaking its web of influence in state agencies, politics and the media, said Ana Brnabić.

Brnabic stated that the new Serbian government will continue to invest in roads, railways and water transport, and that it will invest in the “Serbia 2025” program, which will be the “main star”.

He pointed out in the Serbian Parliament that the overall productivity of companies in Serbia, which is currently relatively low compared to the EU average, must be increased.

Brnabic announced that Serbia will receive the Unified Education Information System by April 2021 and will have a clear overview of the entire education system, allowing for strategic investment decisions.

He stressed that work should be done to improve the telecommunications infrastructure and introduce the Internet in all villages.

Noting the importance of agriculture, he noted that self-sustainability turned out to be very important during the covid crisis and that Serbia never had a food shortage, but was able to export grains and products.

Ana Brnabić also said that the government’s priority will be artificial intelligence.

Today, the Serbian Assembly will discuss the new Serbian Government, which will have 21 ministries, two ministers without portfolios and five vice-presidents.

The deputies will vote today on the members of the new government, after which the prime minister and the ministers will take the oath.

The representative for the composition of the new government, Ana Brnabić, will first present the presentations to the deputies, followed by a discussion and a vote.

According to the Prime Minister’s proposal, the Deputy Prime Ministers will be Branko Ruzic (First Deputy Prime Minister), Branislav Nedmovic, Zorana Mihajlovic, Nebojsa Stefanovic and Maja Gojkovic, and the ministers without portfolios Nenad Popovic and Novica Toncev.

Nikola Selakovic, Minister of the Interior Aleksandar Vulin, Minister of Defense Nebojsa Stefanovic, Minister of Mining and Energy Zorana Mihajlovic, Minister of Finance Sinisa Mali, Minister of Health Zlatibor Loncar have been nominated for Minister of Foreign Affairs and Tatjana Matic for Minister of Commerce, Tourism and Telecommunications.

Branislav Nedimović, Minister of Justice Maja Popović, Minister of European Integration Jadranka Joksimović, Minister of Environmental Protection Irena Vujović, Minister of State Administration and Local Self-Government Marija Obradović have been appointed Minister of Agriculture, Water Management and Forestry.

The president proposed that the Ministry of Care of the People be headed by Milan Krkobabic, the Ministry of Human Rights and Minorities and Social Dialogue Gordana Comic and the Ministry of Sports and Youth Vanja Udovicic.

This government is the 16th since the introduction of the multi-party system in Serbia in 1991 and the 10th since the democratic changes in 2000.
