The Legislation and Constitutional Affairs Committee of the Serbian Assembly has elected Brankica Janković as a candidate for Commissioner for the Protection of Equality, who has so far fulfilled that role. The Committee also voted to send the draft decision to the Assembly in an emergency procedure, so that the candidate could be discussed in one of the next sessions. Jankovic said that whether or not something is discrimination is being considered on the basis of a complaint, and that the commissioner, if it were a public statement, would warn that it is discrimination.

Serbian Socialist Party deputy Dubravka Kralj asked if there is a tendency to equalize wages, and therefore pensions, for men and women, and the commissioner said that the wage gap is a little lower in Serbia and that the law applies to them. prohibits paying for the same job. different.

The deputy of the group “Aleksandar Vučić – For our children” Uglješa Mrdić said that Janković always reacted because of the hate speech against the president of Serbia Aleksandar Vučić and women in positions of responsibility and asked what was the most difficult for her as trustees and if they were, the opposition attacks it after condemning hate speech.

Jankovic said they pointed to a severe and typical form of discrimination and that it was not a question of whether they were members of the government or the opposition, but rather that they reacted to hate speech.
