The situation with the corona virus in Serbia has further escalated in recent days! We think that it could not be from above, and that more than 6,000 infected and 30 dead is the pinnacle that cannot be overcome. But we were wrong. Day by day we receive even more dramatic figures, and with the increase in the number of infected, we unfortunately expect an explosion in the number of deaths.
Our experts are not optimistic either. The curve will certainly not go downhill, so according to calculations for the next few days, we could unfortunately expect up to 7,000 new infections per day. This is clearly shown in the crisis staff members’ explanations why the culprit could still explode.
– The health system is on the verge of survival. However, if the new measures are followed, I am sure they will take effect. The only question is how much will be seen in the numbers, because the virus has already penetrated families. That is the essence. The virus has entered families and is not recognized there, epidemiologist Predrag Kon said as a guest on RTS.
And prof. Dr. Petar Kocovic, who uses mathematical formulas to monitor the movement of the coronary virus pandemic around the world, predicts that there will be no reduction in the coming days. He explains that, although more than 6,000 new infected people were registered in Serbia at the end of the week, we can expect similar and higher numbers in the coming days.
Are there more dead waiting for us?
Now that the situation is extremely unfavorable, aside from the number of infected people breaking the previous day’s record every day, many wonder if this will soon spread to the number of deaths. Unfortunately, the answer is more than certain. The number of patients with a ventilator today was a record and amounted to 212, which is more than the previous days, and the number of hospitalized is growing dramatically day by day, and there are currently 6,214 people in the hospital, which is the most! high so far!
If we take into account that the mortality of this virus in our country is currently 0.99 percent, we arrive at a black number by a simple calculation, so that in the next few days, unfortunately we could have between 50 and 60 deaths in a day! The epidemiologist Dr. Branislav Tiodorović also referred to the more serious clinical picture of the patients.
– The situation is already far behind and unfavorable, which means that from today until the next few days, I think, we will have a constant influx of new patients – Dr. Tiodorović pointed out for RTS.
He stated that everyone must be concerned about the fact that a young man from Nis, who was born in 1975, died two days ago, which means that young people are also in danger. A Leskovac patient, born in 1970, also passed away.
– There is a terrible battle for life minute by minute – says Tiodorović.
If there is any consolation, according to the data currently available, the death rate in this third wave of the crown is lower than in the previous two.
That is, according to prof. Kocovic, the mortality rate in the first wave was 2.93 percent (329 deaths per 11,227 patients), in the second it was 2.33 percent (494 deaths per 21,181 infected) and in the current third “only” around 0.53 percent.
However, we will only have a more realistic estimate of the death rate in this latest corona attack in ten days.
