Previously, a funeral liturgy and a service were held in front of the Trebinje Cathedral, and then a funeral procession with the remains of Blessed Bishop Atanasij marched through the streets of Trebinje towards the Tvrdoš Monastery.
The procession included, among others, the President of the Republic of Srpska Zeljka Cvijanovic, the Prime Minister of Montenegro Zdravko Krivokapic, ministers of the governments of the Republic of Srpska and Montenegro, the acting director of the Secretariat of Religions of the Republic Dragan Davidovic , Prince Filip Karadjordjevic ,.
The coffin with the body of Bishop Atanasij was accompanied by the bishops of the Serbian Orthodox Church.
Retired Bishop Atanasija passed away on Thursday March 4 in Trebinje.
He was treated at the Trebinje hospital for the corona virus since February 17.
