Balkan Investigative Reporting Network (BIRN) has published on its website a database of the deceased, extracted from the Covid-19 Information System, on the basis of which the BIRN reporters conducted their investigation. The data in the database covers the period from March 19, 2020, when the first death was recorded, which ended on June 1. As indicated, BIRN did not have access to the subsequent data.
By that date, 1,081 deaths had been recorded in Covid hospitals, and crisis staff said 224 patients had died in that period.
BIRN has invited readers, especially those who have lost relatives, friends and acquaintances as of June 1, 2020, to contact us, consult the database and see if their loved ones are registered and send brief information on how Los BIRN reporters would further establish the authenticity of the database.
You can see the table with data of the deceased in the period from March 19, 2020 to June 1 HERE.
BIRN journalists claim that the authorities knew the data in the database and, according to the javno.rs portal, the coordinator for the use of the information system was an adviser to the Prime Minister of Serbia.
