This morning, the air was polluted in five Serbian cities, according to the latest data from the Environmental Protection Agency.
The amounts of PM2 particles are found in the red zone at two measurement points in the capital: in the old town and the new Belgrade, but also in Smederevo, Valjevo, Nis and Novi Pazar. However, the fifth maximum level of purple contamination has not been reached anywhere.
The situation is somewhat better, with acceptable air in Novi Sad, Kosjerić, Užice, Niš and Vračar (Belgrade).
The widget “Blic” shows almost identical results, the highest air pollution was recorded in the old town of the capital and in Valjevo.
It is now definitely clear that pollution is mainly influenced by two factors: heating, both from house chimneys and heating plants, but also weather conditions, mainly fog and wind. That is, the fog, as a rule, knows how to “press” the polluted air closer to the surface, while the wind has a positive role, so it can clean the air.
On the Air Visual website, which deals with air pollution around the world, Belgrade ranked seventh with a coefficient of 142 at 9:00 am, and only Calcutta (India), Wuhan and Shenyang (China), New Delhi, they were ahead of the Serbian capital. ), Lahore (Pakistan) and the most polluted Beijing (China).
So Belgrade is the most polluted city in Europe this morning.
