Today, the Minister of Health, Zlatibor Lončar, met with the directors of all Covid hospitals in Serbia.
The meeting between the Minister of Health and the director of the Kovid hospitals followed several difficult days for Serbia.
– In one day, we consume oxygen for patients in the hospital as we consume it in normal conditions in a month. A Belgrade hospital consumes five tons of oxygen a day, Lončar says, adding that the Zemun hospital will have the capacity to receive newly infected people for another day and a half.
After that, the Pančevo hospital will switch to the kovid system, while this time Banjica will not be intended for the accommodation of kovid patients.
– After that, Belgrade patients have to go to other Serbian hospitals for treatment. Thats the reality. We will do our best to help everyone, but I ask citizens to understand that our capabilities are reaching the end – Lončar said and once again asked citizens not to make unnecessary contacts in the next 10 days.
Loncar emphasized that only avoiding contact can save us.
– Forget about parties and celebrations for a while because we have the most infected people there. It is so difficult? asked the minister.
According to him, there are only about 300 free beds in Belgrade.
– Exams at kovid dispensaries increase every hour. We are opening new kovid clinics and a triage center in Zemun. That ability, however, has a limit beyond which it cannot go. Direct non-compliance with the measures will lead to the collapse of the system – Lončar said.
In Serbia, according to the latest report from the Ministry of Health, 8,299 citizens were tested for the corona virus, 2,112 of whom tested positive. At the same time, 10 people died, while there are 106 ventilator patients in hospitals across the country.
