Automation and control systems are currently being tested, dispatch stations, valves, optics and power supply are being verified, in order to create the conditions for the fuel to flow from the direction of Bulgaria from 30 December, Vecernje Novosti reported, reports Beta.

It was noted that this is one of the most important projects, reinforcing the economic and geostrategic position of Serbia, which will be terminated.

When gas officially flows through Serbian main pipelines, from Zajecar to Horgos, Serbia, it was noted, it will improve its energy security and create the preconditions for the price of gas to be more favorable to the economy and the population, while the country will be more attractive to investors.

It is also recalled that the strengthening of the network is planned, because the construction of a secondary gas pipeline is planned, in order to bring gas to Vladicin Han, Ljubovija, Bajina Basta and other places.

At first, the pipes will contain mainly Russian gas, but in the future, it will also be possible to supply them from other sources.

The gas pipeline will be bi-directional, which means that we receive energy from Bulgaria and Hungary.

“The pipelines of the Bulgarian-Hungarian border interconnector are filled with gas and all systems necessary for the reliable and uninterrupted operation of the gas pipeline, which is part of the internal gas transportation system of Serbia, are being tested,” said the executive director of Srbijagas. , Dusan Bajatovic, to Vecernje Novosti.

He said that the gas pipeline would be ready for operation on December 30, and that our country would receive gas from Bulgaria on January 1.

This means that we can supply gas to the population and the economy from Bulgaria, which in addition to the existing direction from Hungary now represents new opportunities, but also a higher degree of security of supply to the markets of Serbia, Republika Srpska and the Federation of Bosnia. and Herzegovina. because the price will be more favorable, “said Bajatović.

The Serbian main gas pipeline, 403 kilometers long, runs from Zajecar to Horgos, and all the work is completed in twenty months.

The compressor station in Serbia is scheduled to be completed in May next year, and Bulgaria has two more stations to do.

It is added that the works on the block and the measurement stations must be completed in Serbia, and as explained by the Ministry of Mines and Energy, the current pressure is sufficient and that does not hinder the start-up of “Balkan Stream”.

“Once the compressor stations are up and running, the pipeline will operate at full capacity and will be able to supply customers in Hungary and Austria,” the ministry explained.

Emphasizing the importance of the “Balkan Stream” for the country’s energy security, the relevant ministry noted that Serbia can now get all the necessary amounts in this direction.

Construction of the “Turkish Stream” began in May 2017 and sections of the gas pipeline were put into operation in Istanbul on 8 January this year at a ceremony attended by Serbian President Vučić along with Russian and Turkish Presidents Vladimir Putin. , Recep Tayyip Erdogan and the Prime Minister. From Bulgaria Boyko Borisov.

The length of the gas pipeline is 930 kilometers, with a total capacity of 31.5 billion cubic meters of gas per year, and it is laid along the Black Sea from Russia to the coast of Turkey, and then overland to the border with neighboring countries.

The original project “South Stream”, which failed, planned to deliver gas from Russia, via the Black Sea, to Bulgaria, that is, directly to the European Union.

The gas pipeline was supposed to consist of four parallel pipelines, but Sofia was under great pressure from Brussels and Washington, which is why Russian President Vladimir Putin suspended the project in 2014.

After meeting Erdogan later this year, Putin announced that the pipelines would be diverted to Turkey and that Europe would be supplied from there in the future.
