Movsesian said he “will not betray” the delegates who voted for him, “nor the principles of Zoran Djindjic’s policy, after whose example the New Party was founded.”

He announced that the focus of the New Party’s work will be on the social and health security of the citizens who, according to him, were justifiably worried about their future during the coronavirus epidemic “due to the inevitable economic crisis.”

The current two-term New Party chairman, Zoran Zivkovic, told the conference that he did not run for any party function because he believes that the creation of a New Party political struggle should be taken up by a new team. He said there is only one party member left, “always available when job advice is needed.”

“We can never be satisfied with the result” of the June elections, Zivkovic said, reiterating that “of course there was a great theft of votes”, but the weak electoral result is also a consequence of “indisputable errors” by the party and

“Let all the past elections be a lesson in not repeating our mistakes, and it is up to the new leadership, which has all the support, to strengthen the party, but also to work seriously and consistently to broaden the opposition,” Zivkovic said.

According to him, the “first step towards that” is the announced unification of the New Party and the Free Citizens Movement.

“Only a strong opposition, with the determined support of courageous citizens, can deliver a decisive political blow to the current Aleksandar Vucic regime in the presidential elections and usher in the end of that government,” said Zivkovic. state “.

The new party announced that at the session held in the Stari Grad municipality building in Belgrade, four vice-presidents were elected: Ivan Jovanović from Niš, Norbert Cvijanov from Subotica and Vladimir Vitošević and Srdjan Jovanović from Belgrade. A new composition of the Statutory Commission was also elected. The term of all newly elected officials will last for four years.
