Architect: Belgrade violates the panorama of Belgrade on the water

Darko Rebo, an architect from Novi Sad, believes that Belgrade-related projects on the water are megalomaniacal, and that his position itself is not well thought out and properly chosen, just as he (Belgrade on the water) “violates the picture” .

“Belgrade is the capital of (Serbia) and the scale of the Belgrade project on water is so large that it draws attention … We have a situation of (old) construction of New Belgrade, which in no way endangered the old part of the city. This new Belgrade violates the panorama, radically, and not in the best way thought. Those structures, in that position, change the recognizable structure of the city. It did not have to be in that location, “Rebo told Dan in I live on TV N1.

Speaking about the announced project of his Novi Sad on the water, he said that the project does not have that name, but it is about three units for which specific projects are being carried out: Kamenicka ada, Shipyard and Naval Barracks.

His message in the development of this project is not to make mistakes like in Belgrade.

“It is important that we examine all important projects through competitions, whether national or international, where we can get different ideas and approaches in spaces that should enhance the quality of the city and be the pride of Novi Sad,” said the architect.

He added that the association of citizens in various initiatives fighting against urban destruction, such as the “Sava embankment”, fighters for the protection of Kosutnjak or the Kosančić crown in Belgrade, is very positive.

“The urban fabric is a living organism, it changes and adapts to the needs of the people who inhabit it. Unfortunately, sometimes these changes are very inappropriate, especially in the new-old relationship ”, estimates Rebo.

“The purpose of architecture is to make quality for citizens, so any participation of citizens in terms of any change in the city is very important, and I hope that these (civic) actions will be more and more in the city”, concluded the architect of Novi Sad.
