The deputy of the Workers’ Front, Katarina Peović, declared today in the session of the Croatian Parliament that the question is whether it is appropriate that the future University of Defense and National Security be named after the first Croatian president Franjo Tudjman, since the Court of La Haya determined that he participated in a joint criminal enterprise.

During the parliamentary debate on the bill on the creation of this university, Peović’s speech provoked a storm of reactions and condemnations from the deputies, and the Croatian Defense Minister, Mario Banožić, told him that “the name of the University he was elected supremely, because he is the first Croatian president. “

The president of the HDZ Club, Branko Bacic, said that Tudjman was “one of the greatest Croatian sons” and that the HDZ “will not allow the slander of the ideological heirs of the League of Communists of Yugoslavia.”

– We will not allow individual parliamentarians to express their frustration and regret that the Croatian state was created by slandering and lying about the founder of modern sovereign Croatia – said Bačić.

National Movement deputy Stipo Mlinaric said that Tito was a “proven criminal” and that “the five-armed red criminal who attacked Vukovar.”

The Speaker of the Croatian Parliament, Gordan Jandroković, said that Peović’s statement was unacceptable and inaccurate and that he did not agree with it, but that the words he spoke were his political views with which he appeared before the voters.

– We are not here to prevent others from saying what they want, the citizens will decide on that – Jandroković told MPs, who criticized him for giving him a warning “against his will”.
