Retired epidemiologist Dr. Ana Gligić told Beta today that communal police and other competent inspectorates must significantly control and sanction excessive gatherings at catering facilities to mitigate the announced escalation of kovida-19.

According to Dr. Gligić, it is unacceptable for large numbers of people to remain indoors in cafes, restaurants, and rafts, usually without protective masks.

“The State must order the communal police and other inspections to avoid the gathering of more than 30 people, as ordered by the Crisis Staff. Until recently, in my neighborhood parties were organized every day, attended by a large number of people. We called the police, the police she came, but the meetings did not stop, “says Gligic.

He pointed out that the communal police would have to close facilities in places where anti-epidemiological measures are not respected.

Gligić stated that in Belgrade, in addition to catering facilities, the main hot spots are the coronavirus and public transport vehicles.

“There is an unacceptably large number of passengers in public transport vehicles, they are breathing down their necks. It’s cold now, the windows won’t open, which affects the spread of the virus.

When asked by Beta how he comments on free entry to Serbia from countries where the kovida-19 epidemic is increasing, Gligić said that everyone at the border should have their health checked.

“All the countries with which we border are significantly more infected than us, and that is why everyone who comes to Serbia would have to present a negative test for kovid-19,” Gligić said.

He pointed out that the responsibility for the implementation of preventive measures rests with the Crisis Staff.

“At the moment, we have a lead in a few days in relation to the catastrophic epidemiological situation in the area, and the state must implement preventive measures more efficiently,” Gligić said.

He stated that the coronavirus vaccine certainly won’t be ready this year.

“That’s why at this time, the most important thing is that we all wear masks and avoid contact. The masks protect us not only from coronavirus but also from all other respiratory diseases.

He said that before retiring, he encountered a dozen natural hot spot viruses, but the emergence of kovida-19 remains largely unexplained.

“I had never experienced a situation like this. The problem is that there is not enough virological data. The virologists failed because they did not find the virus,” said the doctor.

According to her, during the smallpox epidemic, the decisions of doctors were much more respected than today.

“At that time, when I, as an epidemiologist, said that you have to find the contacts of a positive person, the authorities found all the contacts without delay and put them in quarantine,” the doctor recalled.
