The Prime Minister, Ana Brnabić, said today that she is personally totally against the prohibition of circulation and the closure of shops and craft workshops on weekends, because these citizens have to earn money and feed their children.

Brnabic stated that the ban will be introduced if necessary, but noted that he believes in the responsibility of the individual and that people will respect the measures, as well as that there will be no big celebrations and gatherings for Saint Nicholas.

“I don’t like restricting people’s freedom of movement. We did it, but those who accuse us of having to do it again have filed a lawsuit against the Republic of Serbia for discrimination against older people who were unable to leave in March and April, so you can’t satisfy people, Brnabić said.

He added that yesterday he said in the Crisis Staff that he should not succumb to pressure from the media or especially from the public Twitter and social networks.

“I see no problem in postponing the decision on the New Year, which should take effect in 16 days, when the numbers drop. Well, I suppose you want to see what it will be like. And many other serious countries like France and Austria do the same.” . said the Prime Minister.

He added that the measures are not adopted by the media and social networks, but by citizens, the health system and the economy.

If the numbers keep dropping, and that is up to each of us, I think we can let those people work at least on weekends until 2pm, 3pm, he said.

“At Crisis Staff yesterday, I talked about whether everything should be closed and banned, or that some places that don’t have such a high risk of infection, like small hair salons where the hairdresser wears a mask and the customer wears a mask, should we leave them the people work because they have to feed their families, added the prime minister.

He added that people who work until 5 p.m. now can’t realistically buy a gift for their children for the New Year unless they quit work, which they don’t support. These decisions need to be weighed well to make them the best for people, to protect the healthcare system and the economy, Brnabić repeated.
