Among the remains of seven decomposing bodies, found in a container with mineral fertilizer that was delivered from Serbia to Paraguay, one person was determined to be from Egypt, three from Morocco, while the identity of the others has not yet been determined.

The container, which left Serbia on July 21, passed through Croatia, then Egypt, Spain and Argentina, and then Paraguay.

The intended destination of the migrants is believed to be Croatia.

Forensic scientist Pablo Lemir said that three people are Moroccan citizens and one is Egyptian.

The remains of the body, that is, only bones and hair, were found by workers from an agricultural company in Asunción, the capital of Paraguay.

The cause of death is believed to have been suffocation, and the fertilizer accelerated the body’s disintegration process, Lemir said, adding that they were adult men.

The Paraguayan daily “Nasion” writes that the Paraguayan police believe that one of the seven people tried to survive by eating the remains of his companions.

Prosecutor Marcelo Saldivar told Reuters that they believe the migrants came from their country and that they planned to travel to the nearest destination, but they did not calculate the distance well and did not survive the trip.

He also claimed that cookies, bottled water and cans were found in the men in about 72 hours.
