During the first three working days of the kovid children’s ambulance in Kragujevac, almost 150 patients were examined. The clinic is under the jurisdiction of the health center of this city and is intended exclusively for school-age children. The reason for the opening, they say in the health center, is that in the last ten days, the number of children with symptoms of kovid has increased significantly.
According to Danijela Petrovic, spokesperson for the Health Center, the goal is to provide special conditions for children for examinations and diagnoses.
– In the last ten days, the number of children aged seven to 19 years who call pediatricians due to suspected coronavirus infection has increased significantly. That is why we decided to separate the children from the ambulance where patients come and because of other health problems, says Danijela Petrović from Novosti.
The kovid ambulance for children is located in the ENT department in the ATD building. Doctors examine up to fifty children a day. The clinic performs full diagnostics, including tests for the corona virus. Most of the time, they say, infected children with family contacts come to them.
– So far, in almost 95% of cases, the presence of the corona virus has been confirmed in the children examined. Fortunately, this is primarily a milder clinical picture and children are referred for treatment at home, with the advice to contact a doctor immediately in case of worsening, says Danijela Petrović.
He explains that children have different symptoms, so that in addition to respiratory problems and fever, stomach problems, discomfort and back pain also appear.
Two teams of doctors and other medical personnel participate in the kovid ambulance for children. The clinic is open every day from 7 am to 9 pm.
